Hello Everyone! I’ll start this blog off by giving tips for something that many people forget to do - be a tourist in their own town! Sometimes we are all in a hurry to travel to far off places that we forget all the great things in our backyards. Here are a few of Toronto’s special places that I think you’d love! You may know some, and you may not, but feel free to add your own to the comments!

James Emms Tips For Traveling in Toronto, Part 1

James Emms Sightseeing Tips

- For the best view of the city scape, head on down to Polson Street at night - there is a parking lot, bar, sports center and more here. At night the view is fantastic, as you can see the entire skyline. It is easily accessible by car, or by public transit on a bus from Union Station. If you are looking for a great view and some fabulous pictures, Polson Street is the place to go!

- Wednesdays are a bargin hunters best friend! General admission to the Royal Ontario Museum is free every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, along with free admission to the Art Gallery of Ontario every Wednesday night. If you are on a budget, this can help out extremely!

- Sporting events are plentiful in Toronto - The Raptors (NBA), Leafs (NHL), FC (MLS), Argos (CFL), and Bluejays (MLB) all provide fantastic entertainment, although not nessicarily high quality teams. Leafs tickets will easily set you back $100 a seat, but upper deck Jays tickets will only set you back $5-$10 each. Scalpers are in front of each and every arena, but make sure to check with the ticketmaster outlets prior to purchasing, as blocks of tickets are released daily.

- Skating is a great way to pass the time, either at The Harbourfront Center or Nathan Phillips Square. Luckily, skating is free, with the only cost being optional rentals or lockers.

James Emms Food tips:

- There are many cheap eats in Toronto for on the go travellers, with the cheapest being chip trucks on front street, where for $5 you can get a Sausage, Pop, and French Fries. Typically sausages run $3.50, hot dogs $2.50, and pop $1.00.

- Many restaraunts offer ethnic flavours, including Shwarma, for reasonably economical prices.

- Toronto is made up of many different “towns” including Little Italy, Chinatown, Greek Town and more. Get out and explore them! Many street side patios are absolutely beautiful during the summer months, and the authenticity of the food lets you feel an adventure in every bite!

I’d love to hear your ideas for travelling, where you’d like to hear tips for the next blog, and any tips you have in the comments!
